Rising Asia: huge opportunities for Hong Kong

Photo

A gist of the blog:

I started my official visit to Japan on last Friday to attend the 50th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Yokohama. Over the years, the ADB has provided more than US$250 billion in developmental assistance to the region and played a critical role in fuelling the growth of the Asia and the Pacific region. Hong Kong joined the ADB in 1969, and we continue to participate in ADB’s work under the unique framework of “One Country, Two Systems” following the reunification with China.

Similar to ADB, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), which started operation in January last year, aims to support infrastructure development and promote regional connectivity in Asia. As China’s international financial centre, Hong Kong has been actively supporting the establishment as well as operation of AIIB.
